The course presents and compares the two most widely used approaches to software project management – Waterfall and Agile. The training illustrates how the two models function, what their strengths and weaknesses are, and in which situations each of them is more suitable. Through the use of practical examples and real-life situations, participants will understand how to choose the right methodology according to the type of project, the client’s requirements, and the organizational environment. Main topics in the course: What does Agile look like compared to Waterfall Key differences in the way of planning, executing, controlling, and delivering the software product. What are the main characteristics of the Waterfall methodology Linear approach, clearly defined phases, fixed requirements, and documentation. What are the 5 stages of Waterfall Requirements gathering and analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation/maintenance. What are the main principles of the Agile methodology Iterative development, adaptability to changes, active customer participation, and periodic delivery of a product with step-by-step enrichment of features. What are the advantages and disadvantages of both Agile and Waterfall Analysis of risks, flexibility, control, transparency and applicability in different project situations. When do we use Agile in project management Appropriate project types, dynamic requirements, high degree of uncertainty and need for fast feedback. What is SCRUM SCRUM as the most popular Agile framework for software project management and its place in the Agile philosophy. What are the main SCRUM processes, roles and ceremonies Product Owner, Scrum Master, Development Team, Sprint, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review and Sprint Retrospective. How to prepare for a retrospective Goals, collecting feedback and turning the conclusions into concrete improvements for future (phases of) projects. Learning outcomes: After completing the course, participants will be able to confidently choose an appropriate methodology for managing the projects they are working on, understand the key practices of Agile and SCRUM, and apply what they have learned to more effectively plan, execute, and improve their activities and those of their teams.
